Vectorworks, Inc. values the different backgrounds and experiences of the next generation of designers. We therefore created the Vectorworks Design Scholarship to reward talented students and support their studies.

Applicants must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, for six or more credits in a design-based program. You are also eligible if you will graduate from a design-based program in 2017, or if you graduated from a design-based program in 2015 or 2016.

Entries must be in a PDF, .mov, or .mp4 file format. You may choose the layout that best showcases your work and use as many pages as necessary to showcase your design as long as your final submission is below the 100 MB limit. Please review the rubric for more information about how judges will rate your work.

A complete set of scale drawings with artfully arranged renderings to showcase a complete presentation of the idea is recommended.

We understand elements of design include manufacturer products. Arranged in your own way, these elements comprise your original work and are permitted in your Vectorworks Design Scholarship submission.

Your submission may include hand drawings, but computer drawings or models are preferred. You may download a free educational version of Vectorworks Designer software for Mac or Windows.

Projects created in any software are eligible.

Yes, we will consider applications from entrants studying any design-oriented major.

Group work is eligible for entry. Group sizes can’t exceed more than ten people. When submitting your group’s work, list all contributors on the application as coauthors. All group members must be eligible under the terms. Entries with omitted information will be disqualified. Prizes awarded to groups will be divided evenly among the members

Yes, students can submit multiple projects each year, and they can submit year after year.

You will also need to answer three short questions about your design. Answers only need to be around 150 words.

Submissions for the 2017 Vectorworks Design Scholarship are due July 15, 2017.

Vectorworks Design Scholarship winners will be announced August 17, 2017, about 30 days after the application period closes. If you are selected as a winner, we will contact you 10 days prior to the public announcement via email, using the information you submitted with your application. All applicants are notified via email of the outcome.

Firewalls and heightened security (particularly for university email addresses) may prevent students from receiving these messages. To decrease the likelihood of missing our message, please add the domain vectorworks.net to your safe senders list. You can also check your spam or junk mail folders if you do not receive a message in your inbox.

All disbursements are made after verification of eligibility. Checks will be paid directly to the recipient within 30 days of receiving the materials as requested in the award email.
