New Bluebeam Integration in Vectorworks Simplifies Real-Time, Cross-Platform Collaboration

Steve Smith

Every project starts with a design. But keeping that design aligned with fast-moving feedback from collaborators or clients — on different devices, in different locations — can quickly get messy.

That’s why the new Bluebeam Connection integration released in Vectorworks 2025 Update 3 is such a game-changer. The connection between Nemetschek sister brands allows you to seamlessly share PDFs, track markups, and conduct live design reviews — all from directly within the Vectorworks interface.

Built for Collaboration — No Matter What Devices You Use

With this integration for Mac or Windows, you can create and manage Bluebeam Studio Sessions without leaving your Vectorworks design environment. Publish a drawing set, launch a session on Bluebeam Cloud, and invite collaborators—all in just a few clicks.

The experience is just as smooth for those joining the session. Participants on iOS, Android or any web browser can review PDFs and add markups in real-time—no software installation or license required.

And when it’s time to apply that feedback? Simply import markups back into your Sheet Layers or convert them into BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) issues for structured BIM workflows and accountability.

What It Delivers

The Bluebeam Connection in Vectorworks software supports a faster, more connected way to work. Key benefits include:

  • Launch Bluebeam Studio Sessions directly from Vectorworks (Mac or Windows)
  • Sync markups into your drawing set or BIM issue tracker
  • Simplify RFIs, submittals, and punch list workflows
  • Make reviews accessible to external stakeholders—no subscription needed
  • Collaborate from any device (browser, iOS, Android) with Bluebeam Cloud

Whether you're an architect, interior designer, landscape architect, or entertainment designer, this integration removes the roadblocks between design intent and real-world execution.

Design Reviews Without Review Headaches

Let’s say Alex, a project manager at a mid-sized firm, needs to coordinate a design review for a commercial development. Her team works on Macs, while the structural engineer uses Windows—and the client is reviewing from an iPad on vacation.

No problem.

Alex publishes the drawing set from Vectorworks on her Mac and launches a Bluebeam Studio Session. Everyone — regardless of platform — joins in via Bluebeam Cloud. They markup in real-time. Alex imports the feedback back into Vectorworks, converts comments into BCF issues, and keeps the project moving without a single PDF ping-pong email thread.

Built for Real Work — Across Teams and Platforms

The Bluebeam Connection is available to U.S. and Canadian users of Vectorworks Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, and Design Suite.

It’s built on Bluebeam’s latest Cloud API, which means the experience is fast, secure, and constantly evolving. Future updates will expand support to additional regions and introduce new capabilities.

Even collaborators without a Bluebeam license can join your Studio Session using a free Bluebeam ID and a limited markup toolset. The result: a truly inclusive, real-time review experience across teams, clients, and consultants.
