ELEVATING EVERYDAY WORKFLOWS

Update 6 tackles the kind of friction you feel in real projects: stability, feedback, and coordination.

You’ll see smoother handling of older and large files, more consistent text and undo behavior, and a more predictive drafting environment. Viewports that have been updated and saved no longer show a red “needs update” frame when you reopen them, and polygons or polylines behave correctly after using the Split tool in Line Split mode.

Across Architect, Spotlight, and Landmark, project sharing is more robust, with fewer surprise checkout alerts and more dependable interactions in multi‑user environments.

Data visualization has also been refined so viewport previews show all objects correctly when visualization schemes are applied, even after scale or setting changes.

NEW ARCHITEXTURES PARTNERSHIP

Update 6 introduces a new integration with Architextures, bringing a vast library of high‑quality, manufacturer‑specific textures directly into Vectorworks via a dedicated plugin. These textures are fully editable and ready to import in seconds, helping you move from concept to detailed visualization without detouring through external texture searches or manual creation.

This streamlined workflow reduces the time spent building or hunting for textures, while expanded access to manufacturer‑specific content improves realism when you’re specifying materials for real projects.

The result is more convincing presentations and documentation, regardless of whether you work in architecture, interiors, landscape, or entertainment design.

Update 6 also includes additional manufacturer resource library updates that help you model and document faster across disciplines.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR ARCHITECTS

For architects, you’ll notice more reliable BIM data exchange and more predictable phasing workflows. 

IFC exports for walls and slabs are more dependable, with fixes for curved walls and component‑based exports to ensure consultants receive correct geometry and data.

Phasing tools and data visualization have been refined based on your feedback, improving phase dialogs, status updates, and the way phasing interacts with wall insertions, so phased design work behaves the way you expect.

Geometry and documentation workflows are also smoother, with improvements to site model triangulation, floor slab reshaping, and Split tool behavior, making models respond more intuitively to edits.

Manufacturer libraries have been expanded with Architextures sample high‑resolution textures, nine new PureEdge Lighting product lines (including curved recessed and suspension fixtures, for a total of 72 symbols), and more than 100 new or improved Kohler bathtub product symbols.

ENHANCEMENTS FOR LANDSCAPE PROFESSIONALS

For landscapes, you’ll gain better control and confidence over plant quantities and external data. Refinements to plant number calculations and landscape area behavior ensure schedules and quantities accurately reflect the design across localized versions. 

Landscape documentation is smoother thanks to improvements in how Landscape Areas display in legends and integrate with external data, reducing confusion between what you see on screen and what appears in schedules.

Project Sharing workflows for plants are more resilient, with more robust editing that reduces blocking situations when plant styles are checked out by other team members.

The Landmark manufacturer libraries see a significant update to Landscape Forms site furniture, adding 171 symbols from 15 product lines, including seating, tables, shades, shelters, panels, modular site furniture, hatch patterns, and 3D textures to support richer site designs.

POWER AND PRECISION FOR ENTERTAINMENT WORKFLOWS

Entertainment professionals working in Spotlight and ConnectCAD benefit from performance, numbering, and cabling improvements that keep complex shows responsive and coordinated.

Spotlight delivers faster truss deletion, more intuitive and predictable behavior in the Spotlight Numbering dialog, and more reliable tagging and annotation of lighting and cable objects, helping you keep large show files agile.

Cable and power workflows are more dependable, with enhancements to cable tools, power patch selection, data tags, and cable type styles so rigging and power plans remain both editable and accurate.

Routing logic has been improved: Power Patch Selected now consistently routes cables along truss, pipe, or cable paths, and daisy‑chained cable runs follow truss corners correctly when using modifier keys, avoiding cable lines that cut across corners.

MVR imports from Depence now correctly apply updated patch and fixture data, and Spotlight numbering icons reflect the actual numbering order without risking application freezes from specific character combinations.

On the content side, updated libraries for CODA Audio, Cyclops Lighting, and Tyler Truss System bring more current entertainment equipment into your designs.

ConnectCAD also gains more predictable equipment and circuit visualization, better display of custom 3D symbols, and reliable propagation of default circuit graphics in project sharing files.

INTEROPERABILITY AND DATA YOU CAN TRUST

Update 6 continues our focus on interoperability and ensuring that the data you share matches what you see in your model.

STEP exports behave more consistently for solid geometry when collaborating across platforms.

IFC exports are more reliable for curved and rounded walls, and handling of IFC project setup and referenced IFC files has been improved so building and floor assignments remain valid, especially for upper levels.

Slab and hardscape exports now offer more predictable options when using component‑based and separate‑instance modes, while GIS information in exported IFC files is more accurate. Together with the project sharing and data visualization improvements, these changes help ensure that coordination with partners — whether in BIM, GIS, or other formats — stays aligned with the intent of your design.
