The release of the fifth update to the Vectorworks 2025 product line features important enhancements to core features and updates to manufacturer-specific symbol libraries. Let’s look at what’s in store for each industry.

Update 5 bolsters support for IFC 4, allowing for the additional mapping of defined IFC Property Sets (Psets) for various components, including slabs, hardscapes, and landscape areas. This ability to easily map defined Psets to new types of geometry streamlines IFC-based collaboration and ensures accurate IFC data for exchanging with project partners.

The update also improves the import of Revit files, providing increased stability and consistency when collaborating across multiple teams and platforms.

A new library of generic rainwater tank symbols has been added to help effectively represent these sustainable design elements.

If you're in the United States or Canada, you’ll benefit from an updated Techo Bloc symbol library, which provides up-to-date manufacturer resources for the represented pavers and paving stones.

Update 5 provides more intuitive conventional control, allowing for flexible Object Info palette (OIP) overrides while maintaining DMX-controlled functionality for intelligent conventionals.

Data tags can now read data from objects in schematic view, meaning you can automatically and accurately label and annotate 2D schematic representations with live data directly from underlying 3D model objects.

Additionally, live event and lighting designers will find new and updated manufacturer symbol libraries, which feature newly introduced Blaze Audio Speakers and Bumpers, along with refreshed Mega-Lite and ACME Lighting libraries.

Update 5 is now available to download for all currently released English-language-based versions of Vectorworks 2025 and is immediately accessible to subscription and Vectorworks Service Select customers. To install the update, select “Check for Updates” from the Vectorworks menu (Mac) or the Help menu (Windows).
