Available Vectorworks Software

Fundamentals is our basic product that provides non-industry specific tools and is used as a general modeling and drawing tool.

Architect builds on Fundamentals by providing architecture-specific tools for a complete BIM solution to design, model, share, and document projects.

Landmark builds on Fundamentals with landscape-specific tools for landscape design and construction professionals.

Spotlight builds on Fundamentals with entertainment industry-specific tools and can work with Vision, ConnectCAD, and Braceworks.

Design Suite is the most robust version of our software and includes all platforms: Fundamentals, Architect, Landmark, and Spotlight.

Vision is previsualization software for the entertainment industry to design and cue shows before construction. It can be used with Spotlight or Design Suite.

Braceworks is an add-on feature for Spotlight or Design Suite that allows rigging professionals to calculate and gauge the performance of temporary structures, like stage designs, for concerts and shows.

ConnectCAD is an add-on feature for Spotlight or Design Suite that allows audiovisual (AV) industry professionals to keep track of the components of any interconnected system from broadcast and AV to IT and home automation.

Cloud Services Vectorworks Cloud Services is available to anyone, allowing convenient file sharing and storage. With a free account, customers receive 2 GB of Cloud Storage. Vectorworks Service Select and subscription customers receive 20 GB of Cloud Storage. Additionally, Vectorworks Cloud Services connects to Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive for added freedom when accessing and sharing files.

License Types and Activation Methods

Whether you purchase Vectorworks E, B, or G series, the product tools are all the same.

1. E Series

E Series licenses are single-seat and are activated online. When purchasing an E Series license, you are provided with a serial number and download link via email. You can download an E Series onto two computers, but you can only actively use your software on one device at a time. You do not need a constant internet connection to use this type of license; however, you must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to maintain your license’s active status.

2. B Series

B Series licenses are single-seat and dongle-activated. They allow customers to activate and use the program without an internet connection, although a connection is required for any updates to the software. The B series is workstation-based dongle protection, so you must have your dongle plugged into your machine to use the software. B Series licenses will be retired as of Version 2023 and are no longer available for purchase. B Series customers are being transitioned to E Series licenses.

3. G Series

G Series is a network license that has server-based protection. It is a multi-seat license, though you must have a minimum of 5 seats. For the preferred method, you do have to be connected to the internet to use the software, although there are alternatives if you do not have internet. Please contact a Vectorworks Sales Representative directly to purchase a G Series license of Vectorworks.

Vectorworks Service Select Maintenance Program

Vectorworks Service Select is an annual Software Service agreement available for purchase with your perpetual Vectorworks license to help to make the most of your investment by giving you added value both in pricing and additional services. Starting September 14, 2022, Service Select benefits will be included in the purchase of a subscription license, providing subscribers with the same Service Select benefits.

1. Benefits

Vectorworks Service Select provides several added benefits, including:

  • Immediate access to new product releases and tools.
  • Priority technical support.
  • Easy account management.
  • Access to a growing library of on-demand content and learning tutorials.

2. Ordering Process

If you purchase Vectorworks Service Select for the first time through the online store, our Sales Support team will send you a contract through DocuSign in 1-2 business days after order confirmation. The contract will be emailed to the person designated as the Contract Manager on the online order. A Contract Manager oversees your license, account, and portal users. This is typically the person authorized to make purchases for the company, or the person who handles billing. Once the contract is signed, we’ll countersign, charge your order, and email your confirmation. You’ll receive a welcome email so that you can immediately begin to use some of the Vectorworks Service Select benefits such as content libraries, online tutorials, and more.

3. Availability

Vectorworks Service Select is only available for purchase with professional perpetual licenses in select markets until December 30, 2022. When joining Vectorworks Service Select, all current version perpetual licenses owned must be included in the program. Starting January 1, 2023, new perpetual licenses and Service Select agreements will no longer be available.

If you need additional licenses after January 1, 2023, subscription licenses will be available and will include all Service Select benefits at no additional cost. Existing Service Select agreements will not be impacted as long as you maintain an active Service Select agreement after January 1, 2023. For program availability in your market, please contact your local distribution partner using our online map.

4. Service Select Account Changes

Until December 30, 2022, you can purchase additional perpetual licenses from our sales team, who will then add the new licenses to your current Vectorworks Service Select contract. Fees for your new licenses will be prorated for the remainder of the contract year so that your renewal date for all covered licenses will remain the same.

Modifying a license changes the conditions of the agreement.

Modified licenses will be set to renew at the then-current rate for that product for the next renewal and all subsequent renewals.

Vectorworks Service Select agreements are made between the purchasing company and Vectorworks or our authorized distributor. Vectorworks Service Select agreements cannot be transferred or assigned to another company.

5. Renewing your Vectorworks Service Select Agreement

Renewal dates occur annually on the first day of the month one year following your original Vectorworks Service Select date of purchase. You can refer to your Vectorworks Service Select agreement or your Customer Portal account if you are unsure of your renewal date. Vectorworks will also notify you prior to your renewal date. If you choose to be invoiced for your renewal every year, you will be emailed an invoice 30 days prior to your renewal. If you would like to make a payment or make any changes to your payment method, please contact us directly at 855.877.4636.

After December 30, 2022, assuming you have a Service Select agreement that is renewed on the annual renewal date, you will remain eligible to receive all relevant benefits unless the agreement is terminated. As of January 1, 2023, Service Select agreements that are not renewed will be considered canceled, and not eligible for renewal at a later date.

6. Parking a License on your Contract

If you no longer wish to upgrade a license every year, you can park your license, which freezes it at its current version. You won’t have to pay for that license on your renewal each year; however, parked licenses and their assigned users are not entitled to the benefits of Vectorworks Service Select. Until December 30, 2022, you can park or unpark a license 60 days prior to your renewal date. After January 1, 2023, you will not be able to unpark a license or access the Service Select benefits on a parked license in the future.

7. Canceling your Vectorworks Service Select Agreement

You may cancel your Vectorworks Service Select Maintenance agreement by notifying Vectorworks or your distributor (in writing 60 days prior to your renewal date). Refer to section 2 of your agreement for details. Licenses not enrolled in Vectorworks Service Select are not automatically eligible for access to the latest version or any benefits of the program, including priority technical support and original contracted rates. Licenses and all the privileges related therein remain in effect until the end of the contract term. After December 30, 2022, canceled Service Select agreements will not be eligible for renewal at a future date.

8. Free Vision Plus for Vectorworks Service Select Customers

Vectorworks Service Select members with a Spotlight or Design Suite license can request a Vision license at no additional cost. If you have a perpetual license with an active Service Select membership, you are eligible to request a license of Vision Plus, which includes 4 Universes. Customers are eligible to receive a Vision Plus license for each Spotlight or Design Suite license on contract. Your Vision license will stay active as long as the Spotlight or Design Suite license(s) continue to have an active Service Select membership.

You may access your included license of Vision by selecting the option in the Customer Portal. Active Service Select customers who are interested in using Vision Unlimited can purchase this option as an add module to your Service Select membership.

Vectorworks Subscriptions Program

We also offer monthly and annual subscriptions.

Monthly subscriptions are perfect for project-based customers, flexible staffing needs, cash-flow sensitive customers, or trying out new products. Your monthly subscription will automatically renew each month, but you have the flexibility to cancel up to four (4) days before your renewal date to avoid being charged in the next billing cycle.

Yearly subscriptions are a cost-effective way to maintain a subscription for one full year. You will be billed once, and your subscription will remain active for 12 months. With a yearly subscription, you’ll pay for 10 months and get two months free. Your yearly subscription will automatically renew at the end of your one-year subscription term. You can cancel up to four days before your renewal date to avoid the charges on your next billing cycle.

2. Ordering Process

Vectorworks Subscriptions can be purchased directly online. Once you select a plan, you’ll be prompted to either sign in to your existing Vectorworks account or to create a new one.

3. Availability

Vectorworks subscriptions are available for professional licenses in select markets and will have worldwide availability by January 1, 2023. For program availability in your market, please contact your local distribution partner using our online map.

4. Subscription Account Changes

You can order multiple subscription licenses through the Vectorworks website. Subscription licenses are purchased and renewed individually. Additional licenses may be purchased at any time, independent of existing licenses owned. Subscription licenses may be canceled individually up to four (4) days prior to the software renewal date.

5. Renewing your Subscription License

Your subscription will automatically be renewed, unless canceled.

Please note, your device needs to be connected to the internet while Vectorworks is running within three days of your renewal date for your renewal to work. If you are not connected, you will receive a message asking you to connect to the internet to access your subscription software. Once connected, you will be able to continue using your software as usual.

6. Canceling your Subscription License

Your monthly or annual subscription may be canceled anytime during the billing cycle but must be canceled at least 4 days before your renewal date to avoid the charges for the next billing cycle. Once charges have been processed for the current billing cycle, the charges are non-refundable. Cancellation requests may be submitted by clicking the “CANCEL” button located under your license information in the Customer Portal under “LICENSES”. Once canceled, your software will continue working until the end of your billing cycle.

Once the cancellation process is complete and your software has expired, you will no longer have access to your Vectorworks license to open any files you created with it. You can still access and print your files using the Vectorworks File Viewer.

7. Free Vision for Subscription Licenses

Vectorworks Service Select members with a Spotlight or Design Suite license can now request a Vision license at no additional cost. If you have a monthly subscription, you are eligible to request a license of Vision Plus, which includes 4 Universes. Annual subscription licenses can request Vision Unlimited. Your Vision license will stay active as long as the Spotlight or Design Suite license(s) remain active.

You may access your included license of Vision by selecting the option in the Customer Portal. Customers are eligible to receive one free Vision license for each Spotlight or Design Suite license on contract.

Vectorworks software helps people transform the world. New Perpetual License Purchases

Until December 30, 2022, you may purchase new perpetual licenses for any of our product offerings: Fundamentals, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Design Suite, Braceworks, and ConnectCAD. Perpetual licenses may be purchased on their own or in conjunction with Vectorworks Service Select, our software maintenance program. If you purchase a new license in conjunction with the maintenance program, you will receive a contract to sign and return before completion of your order.

The license is perpetual and will belong to you regardless of the status of your maintenance contract, but the license will only be eligible for maintenance services and benefits for as long as your service agreement remains active. After December 30, 2022, new perpetual licenses will not be available for purchase.

Upgrading Perpetual Licenses

Until December 30, 2022, an existing customer may upgrade any existing license that is no more than three versions back. Users with a license more than three versions back can transition to the current version by purchasing a new license.

Upgraded licenses may be purchased on their own or in conjunction with Vectorworks Service Select, our software maintenance program. If an upgraded license is purchased in combination with the maintenance program, you will receive a contract that must be signed and returned prior to the completion of your order.

Purchasing & Product Delivery

Online Store

New customers are welcome to our online store to make their initial purchase. Existing customers should contact their sales representative to add to their existing Vectorworks Service Select Maintenance agreement or to upgrade existing licenses by December 30, 2022.

Perpetual Delivery

When purchasing a perpetual license online, allow up to two business days for order processing. You will receive an order confirmation after checkout.

Subscription Delivery

Once you complete the purchasing process, you will receive installation information at checkout and via email. You will have access to your subscription software immediately. Your subscription will automatically renew on your renewal date, unless canceled.

Adding a Module

For perpetual license holders, you can change your existing product by adding a module. For example, if you own a Fundamentals license, you can add an industry module like Architect to access the additional industry-specific tools that Fundamentals does not offer. The license number will remain the same, but we will email a new serial number that allows the use of the new module. Through December 30, 2022, you can add a module at any time (with or without the maintenance program). Starting January 1, 2023, only licenses with an active Service Select contract will be able to add a module. If you have the Vectorworks Service Select maintenance program, the module will be added to your contract at a prorated cost based on the contract renewal date. Payment Methods

For online purchases we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. If you need to purchase a perpetual license with a check, direct debit, or purchase order, please contact a Vectorworks Sales Representative directly.

Paying Taxes and Fees

Depending on the products you order and your location, sales tax may be calculated and charged. Sales tax charges are calculated based on your location and appear on the order review screen after you enter your shipping address.

Recurring Billing for Subscriptions and Maintenance Plan

Maintenance Plan: your Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement will renew annually on the date listed in your contract. You will be notified of your upcoming renewal prior to your renewal date. If you choose to be invoiced for your renewal every year, you will be emailed an invoice 30 days prior to your renewal. If you choose to make a payment with a credit card, your card is authorized to be charged up to 30 days prior to the renewal date. If you would like to make a payment or make any changes to your payment method, please contact us directly at 888.646.4223.

Subscriptions: your subscription will automatically renew on the date of purchase in the following month or year based on length of subscription purchased, unless canceled. We will charge the credit card on the account four days prior to the renewal date. Credit card information, cancellations, and reactivations can be updated within the Customer Portal.

Order History and Receipts

Maintenance Plan: for information regarding your Vectorworks Service Select order history, contact us directly.

Subscriptions: you can view your payment history at any time within the Customer Portal under PAYMENTS. To view an invoice, click on the invoice number under PAYMENT HISTORY, and your invoice will open in a new window.

Cancellations and Refunds

General Policy: For most purchase types, including annual subscriptions, Vectorworks Service Select, and perpetual licenses, we offer a refund up to 30 days after the purchase. Monthly subscriptions are excluded. Please refer to the below sections for more information regarding your specific plan and how to cancel.

Canceling Vectorworks Service Select

You may cancel your Vectorworks Service Select Maintenance agreement by notifying Vectorworks or your distributor (in writing 60 days prior to your renewal date). Refer to section 2 of your agreement for details. Licenses not enrolled in Vectorworks Service Select are not eligible for access to the latest version or any benefits of the program, including priority technical support and original contracted rates. Licenses and all the privileges related therein remain in effect until the end of the contract term.

Customers who purchased Vectorworks Service Select with their Vectorworks software will receive a refund for the amount paid on Vectorworks Service Select along with their refund for the returned software during the 30-day period.

Customers who purchased Vectorworks Service Select along with their Vectorworks software and wish to keep the software but cancel the Vectorworks Service Select during the 30-day period will receive a refund for the amount paid on the program unless any adjustments were made to the cost of the software associated with the purchase of Vectorworks Service Select.

After December 30, 2022, canceled Service Select agreements will not be able to be renewed or reactivated at any time.

Canceling Subscription Licenses

While we offer a refund up to 30 days after purchase for yearly subscriptions, we do not offer refunds for monthly subscriptions. If you no longer need your monthly or annual subscription, please be sure to cancel at least four (4) days before your renewal date to avoid the charges for the next billing cycle.

Your monthly or annual subscription may be canceled up to four (4) days before your renewal date to avoid the charges for the next billing cycle. Submit cancellation requests by clicking the “CANCEL” button located under your license information in the Customer Portal under “LICENSES”. Note that you may need to click the license’s disclosure arrow to see the “CANCEL” button. Once canceled, your software will continue working until the end of your billing cycle.

You will not be charged any cancellation fees. Also, once the cancellation process is complete and your software has expired, you will no longer have access to your Vectorworks license to open any files you created with it.

Log in to the Customer Portal to activate a previous license at any time. Under HOME in the top navigation in the portal, choose the license you want to reactivate, and you will be directed to a screen asking for new payment information. Note that you may need to click on the license’s disclosure arrow to see the REACTIVATE button. Please be aware that once you cancel your subscription, we cannot guarantee the same price will apply in the future. The pricing may increase before you reactivate.

Canceling Perpetual Licenses

If you are not satisfied for any reason, we offer a refund up to 30 days after purchase for perpetual licenses. To cancel, please contact your Vectorworks sales representative.

Accessing Software and Cloud Services After a Return

You can still access and print your files by downloading and using the Vectorworks File Viewer.

In order to provide a seamless, innovative, and user-friendly customer experience, Vectorworks is better aligning our purchase options with our continuous development cycle. Starting January 1, 2023, there will be changes to how Vectorworks issues and manages new licenses in order to focus on providing the highest quality product to you.

Starting January 1, 2023, monthly and annual subscriptions will be the only purchasing option for new licenses of Vectorworks in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. December 30, 2022 will be the last day Vectorworks offers new perpetual licenses or new Service Select agreements in these markets. This change will go into effect in all other markets by January 1, 2025. Please reach out to your local Vectorworks distributor to learn more about the timeline in your market.

If you already have a perpetual license with a Service Select agreement, your benefits will remain intact as long as your agreement remains active. This will allow you to manage your licenses the same way you do today, including maintaining access to the latest version. After December 30, 2022, if you need to add new licenses to your organization, you will add those new licenses as subscription licenses. Any added subscription licenses will not impact the existing perpetual licenses or your Service Select agreement. You can find more details below.

If you own a perpetual license without a Service Select agreement in place, you may want to consider adding a Service Select agreement before the end of the year. Without the Service Select agreement, you will not be eligible for any benefits of Service Select, including access to the latest version on your perpetual license going forward.

Beginning January 1, 2023, new purchases of Vectorworks perpetual licenses will no longer be available. Vectorworks will offer new licenses as a subscription purchase. Existing perpetual license owners will be able to continue using their licenses, and active Service Select members will be able to continue to renew their agreements and access the same benefits they do today.

The change will go into effect on January 1, 2023.

We are making this change for two reasons. First, Vectorworks is evolving in order to continue providing cutting-edge technology, improved stability and quality, and better support for all our customers. We will be accelerating our commitment to a continuous development cycle that will allow us to release new features when they are ready rather than one annual release, which we believe will enable us to deliver higher quality updates and better support. To ensure the best customer experience, we believe all customers should be utilizing the latest version, and subscription licenses ensure each customer has immediate access to the latest version.

Secondly, we want to simplify the purchasing process and provide competitive and accessible pricing, enabling more designers to use Vectorworks for a multitude of project types. With a low upfront investment, subscriptions provide an accessible and affordable technology solution.

New Vectorworks perpetual licenses will no longer be available for purchase after December 30, 2022. However, if you own an existing perpetual license, you will still have access to this license and be able to use it as long as you have a compatible device. Existing perpetual licenses on prior versions are not eligible for upgrade but can be traded in for a discounted annual subscription.

Existing perpetual licenses that are active on a Service Select maintenance agreement prior to December 30, 2022 and remain active will maintain the benefits of membership, including access to new releases and features once available.

Yes, Vectorworks subscription licenses are available today in most markets and can be purchased at any time. If you do not see a subscription option available in your market, please contact us or check our map of distributors. Vectorworks subscriptions will have worldwide availability by January 1, 2023.

Monthly and annual subscriptions are both available, so you can subscribe for as long as you need.

Yes, in addition to having access to the latest version once available, subscription licenses will have enhanced features. Starting September 14, 2022, subscription licenses will include Service Select benefits at no additional cost.

Customers are welcome to purchase a subscription through our online store. If you wish to purchase a perpetual license and/or Service Select maintenance agreement prior to December 30, 2022, you may contact your sales representative or local distributor.

If you currently own a perpetual license and would like to switch to a subscription license, starting January 1, 2023, we will provide a transition path allowing you to convert your perpetual license to an annual subscription license at a discounted price for the first year. Please contact our team to review the options for your licenses.

Vectorworks Fundamentals, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, and Design Suite are all available for purchase as a subscription. Additionally, Braceworks and ConnectCAD are add-on modules that can be purchased with Spotlight or Design Suite subscriptions.

Vision is not available as a subscription. However, beginning September 14, 2022, customers who own a Spotlight or Design Suite annual subscription will be able to request a license of Vision Unlimited for free through the Customer Portal, while customers who own a Spotlight or Design Suite monthly subscription will be able to request a 4 Universe license of Vision Plus. The Vision licenses will remain available for as long as your subscription is active.

If you require the dongled version of Vision in order to access MA-Net as your DMX provider, you are able to purchase the dongle separately from us to work with your serial number and installer available in the portal. If you need assistance purchasing this, please contact our sales team.

Active Service Select members who own a license of Spotlight or Design Suite will be able to request a free license of Vision Plus, which includes four Universes. If you are interested in a Vision Unlimited license, contact your local sales team.

Your Vectorworks subscription provides immediate access to the latest version of Vectorworks available in your country. After you have ordered your Vectorworks subscription, you can request a serial number for three versions prior to the current version within the Customer Portal. To do so, please sign in and navigate to the LICENSES page. Click on the disclosure arrow next to your license ID to expand the section and then select request previous versions.

Subscriptions are single-user access, meaning that a single user can access, activate, and use each subscription seat. Users cannot share a seat; however, you can purchase additional subscription licenses and then assign those seats to different users. A subscription license can be installed on up to 2 machines, but they cannot be used simultaneously.

Yes. If you own a Vectorworks perpetual license that was purchased prior to January 1, 2023, you will still have access to this license and will be able to use it for as long as you’d like. However, existing perpetual licenses on prior versions are not eligible for upgrade. Your licenses will also always be accessible to you through the Customer Portal if you have ever had a Select Service agreement. We recommend adding a Vectorworks Service Select agreement prior to the changes on January 1, 2023, to protect your investment and ensure you can always use the latest software available.

Prior to December 30, 2022, a customer may upgrade any existing license that is no more than three versions back. After December 30, 2022, perpetual licenses will no longer be available for upgrade. Customers with a perpetual license on a prior version will be able to transition to the current version by purchasing a new subscription license.

Your Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement will continue to renew annually on the date listed in your contract. Your license(s) will maintain the benefits of membership, including access to the latest version release once available, as long as the agreement remains active.

Licenses that are active on Service Select Agreements prior to December 30, 2022, will remain perpetual licenses, and you will retain your Service Select benefits as long as the agreement remains active.

Customers who own a current version of a Vectorworks perpetual license may purchase a Service Select membership for their license prior to December 30, 2022. This will ensure access to the benefits of Service Select, including the ability to maintain a perpetual license with access to new releases once available.

Customers who own a prior version of a Vectorworks perpetual license without Service Select may upgrade any existing license that is no more than three versions back, and purchase a Service Select membership for their license prior to December 30, 2022. Customers with a license more than three versions back can transition to the current version by purchasing a new perpetual license plus a Service Select membership for their license prior to December 30, 2022. Alternately, you can purchase a subscription license as it will immediately provide access to the latest version, and Service Select benefits are included in the subscription price starting September 14, 2022.

Vectorworks Service Select is only available for professional perpetual licenses in select markets and will no longer be available for purchase starting January 1, 2023. For current program availability in your market, please contact your local distribution partner using our online map.

When your Service Select Maintenance Agreement expires you will no longer be able to reinstate your contract or purchase a new contract. Once canceled, your Vectorworks license(s) will remain on the last version that was available to you prior to your maintenance contract expiring. In order to obtain the latest version of Vectorworks, you will be able to transition your perpetual license to an annual subscription at a discounted price for your first year.

Prior to December 30, 2022, existing customers who already own a Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement may purchase additional licenses, which will be added to the existing agreement at the prorated cost for the remaining duration of the contract.

Starting on January 1, 2023, new Vectorworks perpetual licenses will no longer be available for purchase. Customers who wish to purchase additional licenses may do so as a subscription purchase. Adding subscription licenses to your organization will not nullify the Service Select agreement, and your existing perpetual licenses will remain intact.

New network licenses will no longer be available for purchase after December 30, 2022. If you own an existing network license that is active on a Service Select maintenance agreement, you may contact your local sales representative to discuss options for adding additional licenses to your agreement.

Yes. Beginning September 14, 2022, subscription licenses will have access to the same benefits as a Service Select membership.

Yes. Starting in 2023, you will have the option to align the renewal date of your annual subscription license with your Service Select renewal at the time of the subscription purchase.

You will need an internet connection to complete your purchase and activate your license. After activation, internet is not required each time you use Vectorworks. Your device will need to reconnect to the internet within 3 days of your renewal period in order to process the renewal, and at a minimum once every 30 days in order to continue using Vectorworks. If you are not connected, you will receive a message asking you to connect to the internet to access your subscription software. Once connected, you will be able to continue using your software as usual.
