License Types

Activation Methods

Whether you purchase Vectorworks E, B, or G series, the product tools are all the same.

E Series licenses are single seat and are activated online. When purchasing an E Series license, you are provided with a serial number and download link via email. You can download an E Series onto two computers, but you can only actively use your software on one device at a time. You do not need an internet connection to use this type of license; however, you must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to maintain your license’s active status.

B series licenses are single seat and dongle-activated. They allow users to activate and use the program without an internet connection, although a connection is required for any updates to the software. The B series is workstation-based dongle protection, so you must have your dongle plugged into your machine to use the software. Please contact a Vectorworks Sales Representative directly to purchase a B Series license of Vectorworks.

G Series is a network license that has server-based dongle protection. It is a multi-seat license, though you must have a minimum of 2 seats. You do not have to be connected to the internet to use the software, but the dongle should be plugged into a central server connecting to all machines using the software. Vectorworks Service Select Maintenance Program

Program Overview

Vectorworks Service Select is an annual Software Service Agreement available for purchase with your Perpetual Vectorworks license to help to make the most of your investment by giving you added value both in pricing and additional services.

Ordering Process

If you purchase Vectorworks Service Select for the first time through the online store, our Sales Support team will send you a contract through DocuSign in 1-2 business days after order confirmation. The contract will be emailed to the person designated as the Contract Manager on the online order. A Contract Manager oversees your license, account, and portal users. This is typically the person authorized to make purchases for the company, or the person who handles billing. Once the contract is signed, we’ll countersign, charge your order, and email your confirmation. You’ll receive a welcome email so that you can immediately begin to use some of the Vectorworks Service Select benefits such as content libraries, online tutorials, and more.

Availability

Vectorworks Service Select is only available for professional perpetual licenses in select markets. When joining Vectorworks Service Select, all current version perpetual licenses owned must be included in the program, including any additional licenses purchased in the future.

Vectorworks Service Select Account Changes

If you have existing Vectorworks licenses, they can be added to your contract when you upgrade. Contact a Vectorworks Sales Representative for more information.

You can purchase additional licenses at any time from our sales team, who will then add the new licenses to your current Vectorworks Service Select account. Fees for your new licenses will be pro-rated for the remainder of the contract year so that your renewal date for all covered licenses will remain the same.

Modifying a license changes the conditions of the agreement. A license that has been modified to remove a module may be updated to renew at the then-current rate for that product for the next renewal and all subsequent renewals.

Vectorworks Service Select agreements are made between the purchasing company and Vectorworks, Inc. or our authorized distributor. Vectorworks Service Select agreements are non-transferrable except in rare cases, such as a company split, upon approval. Please contact Vectorworks, Inc. for assistance.

Renewing your Vectorworks Service Select Agreement

Renewal dates occur annually the first day of the month one year following your original Vectorworks Service Select date of purchase. You can refer to your Vectorworks Service Select agreement or your Service Select portal account if you are unsure of your renewal date. Vectorworks will also notify you prior to your renewal date. If you choose to be invoiced for your renewal every year, you will be mailed an invoice 30 days prior to your renewal. If you would like to make a payment or make any changes to your payment method, please contact us directly at 855.877.4636.

Canceling your Vectorworks Service Select Agreement

If you no longer wish to upgrade a license every year, you can park your license, which freezes it at its current version. You won’t have to pay for that license on your renewal each year; however, parked licenses and their assigned users are not entitled to the benefits of Vectorworks Service Select. You can park or unpark a license 90 days prior to your renewal date.

You may cancel your Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement by notifying Vectorworks, Inc. or your distributor (in writing 90 days prior to your renewal date). Refer to section 2 of your agreement for details. Licenses not enrolled in Vectorworks Service Select are not eligible for free upgrades or any benefits of the program, including priority technical support, and original contracted rates. Licenses and all the privileges related therein remain in effect until the end of the contract term.

Vectorworks Subscriptions Program

Program Overview

We offer both monthly and annual subscriptions, so you can pay for the software you need for as long as you need it.

Monthly subscriptions are perfect for short-term needs, such as special projects or temporary staff. Your monthly subscription will automatically renew each month, but you have the flexibility to cancel up to four days before your renewal date to avoid being charged in the next billing cycle.

Yearly subscriptions are a cost-effective way to maintain a subscription for one full year. You will be billed once, and your subscription will remain active for 12 months. With a yearly subscription, you’ll pay for 10 months and get two months free. Your yearly subscription will automatically renew at the end of your one-year subscription term. You can cancel up to four days before your renewal date to avoid the charges on your next billing cycle.

Ordering Process

Vectorworks Subscriptions can be purchased directly online. Once you select a plan, you’ll be prompted to either sign in to your existing Vectorworks account or to create a new one.

Subscription Account Changes

You can order multiple subscription licenses through the Vectorworks Subscription Program. Subscription licenses are purchased and will renew individually. Additional licenses may be purchased at any time, independent of existing licenses owned. Subscription licenses may be canceled individually up to four days prior to the software renewal date.

Renewing your Subscription License

Your subscription will automatically be renewed on your specified renewal date, unless canceled. Please note, your device needs to be connected to the internet while Vectorworks is running within three days of your renewal date for your renewal to work. If you are not connected, you will receive a message asking you to connect to the internet to access your subscription software. Once connected, you will be able to continue using your software as usual.

Canceling your Subscription License

Your monthly or annual subscription may be canceled up to four days before your renewal date to avoid the charges for the next billing cycle. Cancelations requests may be submitted by clicking the “CANCEL” button located under your license information in the Customer Portal under HOME. Once canceled, your software will continue working until the end of your billing cycle.

Once the cancelation process is complete and your software has expired, you will no longer have access to your Vectorworks license to open any files you created with it. You can still access and print your files using the Vectorworks File Viewer at vectorworks.net/support/downloads/vectorworks-file-viewer.

License Purchase Policies

New Perpetual License Purchases

You may purchase new perpetual licenses for any of our product offerings: Fundamentals, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Designer, Vision, and Braceworks. Perpetual licenses may be purchased on their own or in conjunction with Vectorworks Service Select, our software maintenance program. If you purchase a new license in conjunction with the maintenance program, you will receive a contract to sign and return before completion of your order. The license is perpetual and will belong to you regardless of the status of your maintenance contract, but the license will only be eligible for maintenance services and benefits for as long as your service agreement remains active.

Existing customers who already own a Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement may purchase additional licenses, which will be added to the existing agreement at the prorated cost for the remaining duration of the contract. Upgrading Perpetual Licenses

An existing customer may upgrade a prior version license which is three or less versions old. Users with a license older than three versions can transition to the current version by purchasing a new license.

Upgraded licenses may be purchased on their own or in conjunction with Vectorworks Service Select, our software maintenance program. If an upgraded license is purchased in combination with the maintenance program, you will receive a contract to sign and return before completion of your order.

Existing customers who already own a Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement may upgrade prior versions licenses that fall within the upgrade policy, which will be added to the existing agreement at the prorated cost for the remaining duration of the contract. Online Store

New customers are welcome to our online store to make their initial purchase. Existing customers should contact their sales representative to add to their existing Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement or to upgrade existing licenses.

Online checkout

Perpetual

When purchasing a perpetual license online, allow up to two business days for order processing. You will receive an order confirmation after checkout.

Subscriptions

Once you complete the purchasing process, you will receive installation information via email at checkout. You will have access to your subscription software immediately. Your subscription will automatically renew on your specified renewal date, unless canceled.

Please note that you will be required to activate Vectorworks over the Internet within three days of your renewal date. If you are not connected, a message will appear asking you to connect to the Internet to access your subscription software. Once connected, you can use your software as usual.

Adding a Module

You can change your existing product by adding a module. For example, if you own a Fundamentals license, you can add an industry module like Architect to access the additional industry-specific tools that Fundamentals does not offer. The license number will remain the same, but we will email a new serial number that allows use of the new module. A customer can add a module at any time, with or without the maintenance program. However, if the customer does have the Vectorworks Service Select maintenance program, the module will be added to their contract at a prorated cost based on their contract renewal date. Vectorworks 2019 Fundamentals Product Change Policy

In Version 2019, we optimized the tools and technology available with Fundamentals to better serve users like you, and to set a clearer development roadmap for future research and development. Specifically, with the release of Vectorworks 2019, we removed industry-specific tools and menu commands to focus Fundamentals on 2D/3D CAD.

To our valued Fundamentals users, we offer a few choices to ensure you have the best Vectorworks product for you. Read on for more details or contact your local sales team to learn more.

Why did you change what’s available in Fundamentals?

Two main reasons. First, we want to continue our mission of providing an easy-to-use CAD software that can provide best-in-class precision 2D drafting, easy 3D modeling and visualization, and the ability to create material take-offs and bill of materials. Removing the industry-specific tools and commands helps us achieve this mission by making the program lighter and easier to use and learn. Second, the change helps Vectorworks better understand your needs as a Fundamentals user, so the Vectorworks R&D team can chart a clear development roadmap, ensuring that Fundamentals will remain the superior 2D/3D CAD program you rely on. We believe having the right features to solve design problems, and having those features designed in the right way, is best for everyone. If these changes make Fundamentals no longer a perfect fit for you, we will work with you to identify the industry-specific product that best fits your needs.

What exactly changed in Fundamentals?

We removed the industry-specific plug-in objects, leaving behind an unsurpassed general-purpose CAD program for Mac and Windows. Specifically, we removed all tools and commands for:

  • Spaces
  • Doors
  • Walls
  • Windows
  • Columns
  • Stairs and Ramps

How can I still have access to these features?

These features can be accessed by moving to one of our Industry Series Products (Architect, Landmark, or Spotlight). And, they will still be available in Fundamentals software prior to version 2019.

Is there an upgrade offer for me if I want to make the move to an Industry Series Product?

If you have a Fundamentals license and own an active Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement prior to the launch of version 2019, you can upgrade your Fundamentals license(s) to an Industry Series Product for no initial charge. You will enjoy the power and flexibility of Architect, Landmark, or Spotlight, and your Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement will be modified to reflect the product change. Please contact your local sales team for details about this offer.

What if I don’t have an active Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement?

If you own a Fundamentals license and do not own an active Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement, you are eligible to add an Industry Series Product to your license at the time of upgrade for a 50% discount. Alternatively, you can do nothing and keep using your current version of Fundamentals as it is, or upgrade when you feel the time is right.

Will my Vectorworks Service Select renewal price decrease after these features have been removed?

Vectorworks Service Select renewal rates will not change. Vectorworks Service Select members will continue to pay the lowest prices for access to the newest version each year. Vectorworks Service Select customers’ renewal rates are based on the date of initial purchase and will have lower pricing compared to making a new purchase today.

If I use the tools and commands that are being removed, how do I know which Industry Series Product would be best for me?

For Online purchases we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. If you need to purchase with a check, direct debit, or purchase order, please contact a Vectorworks Sales Representative directly.

Paying Taxes and Fees

Depending on the products you order and your location, sales tax may be calculated and charged. Sales tax charges are calculated based on your location and appear on the order review screen after you enter your billing address.

Recurring Billing for Subscriptions and Maintenance Plan

Subscriptions

Your subscription will automatically renew on the date of purchase in the following month or year based on length of subscription purchased, unless canceled. We will charge the credit card on the account four days prior to the renewal date. Credit card information, cancellations, and reactivations can be updated within the Customer Portal.

Maintenance Plan

Your Vectorworks Service Select maintenance agreement will renew annually on the date listed in your contract. You will be notified of your upcoming renewal prior to your renewal date. If you choose to be invoiced for your renewal every year, you will be mailed a paper invoice 30 days prior to your renewal. You can view your payment history at any time within the Customer Portal under PAYMENTS. To view an invoice, click on the invoice number under PAYMENT HISTORY, and your invoice will open in a new window.

Cancellations & Refunds

Subscriptions

We offer a refund up to 30 days after purchase for yearly subscriptions, but we do not offer refunds for monthly subscriptions. If you no longer need your monthly subscription, please be sure to cancel four days before your renewal date.

Your monthly or annual subscription may be canceled up to four days before your renewal date to avoid the charges for the next billing cycle. Submit cancellation requests by clicking the CANCEL button located under your license information in the Customer Portal under HOME. Note that you may need to click the license’s disclosure arrow to see the CANCEL button. Make sure to submit your cancellation at least four days before your software renewal date. Once canceled, your software will continue working until the end of your billing cycle.

You will not be charged with any cancellation fees. Also, once the cancellation process is complete and your software has expired, you will no longer have access to your Vectorworks license to open any files you created with it.

Log in to the Customer Portal to activate a previous license at any time. Under HOME in the top navigation in the portal, choose the license you want to reactivate, and you will be directed to a screen asking for new payment information. Note that you may need to click on the license’s disclosure arrow to see the REACTIVATE button. Please be aware that once you cancel your subscription, we cannot guarantee the same price will apply in the future. The pricing may increase before you reactivate.

Perpetual Licenses

If you are not satisfied for any reason, we offer a refund up to 30 days after purchase for perpetual licenses.

Vectorworks Service Select Refund Policy

Presently, the same money-back-guarantee in effect for most Vectorworks purchases (30 days) is in effect for Vectorworks Service Select. Customers who purchased Vectorworks Service Select with their Vectorworks software will receive a refund for the amount paid on Vectorworks Service Select along with their refund for the returned software during the 30-day period.

Customers who purchased Vectorworks Service Select along with their Vectorworks software and wish to keep the software but cancel the Vectorworks Service Select during the 30-day period will receive a refund for the amount paid on the program unless any adjustments were made to the cost of the software associated with the purchase of Vectorworks Service Select.

Accessing Software and Cloud Services After a Return

You can still access and print your files using the Vectorworks File Viewer at vectorworks.net/support/downloads/vectorworks-file-viewer.
