VectorWorks 12 Training CDs Now Available

New project-based training CDs incorporate interactive instruction in the context of real-world projects

Columbia, Maryland (November 28, 2005)—Nemetschek North America announced today the availability of its VectorWorks 12 training CDs. These new project-based training CDs are designed to thoroughly cover VectorWorks 12 product features—-such as live sections, radiosity, a completely revamped interface, and improved workgroup referencing--while maximizing the user’s productivity by incorporating interactive instruction in the context of real-world projects.

Produced by Resolve Software Solutions, Nemetschek North America’s training partner, the collection of CDs includes VectorWorks Core Concepts, VectorWorks Upgrade Companion, VectorWorks Essentials, VectorWorks Architect, VectorWorks Landmark, VectorWorks Spotlight, and RenderWorks.

“The VectorWorks 12 training CDs are the result of a major overhaul in our self-paced training concept,” says Dan Monaghan, Director of Marketing, Nemetschek North America. “We recognize the importance of using real-world projects that are industry specific, so our users can identify with the tutorial as it corresponds to their own design experience.”

VectorWorks Core Concepts provides an overview of the fundamental concepts of VectorWorks designed to orient new users to all VectorWorks products. It ships free with all initial licenses of software purchased. The VectorWorks Upgrade Companion, also free, is designed as a comprehensive guide to help upgrade users get up and running quickly on version 12, as well as provide information on how to migrate existing workspaces forward. VectorWorks Essentials contains project-based tutorials that teach users how to make the most of critical features such as resources, layers and classes, the 3D modeling environment, and viewports of VectorWorks. For new VectorWorks users, this is the next step after completing the Core Concepts training.

VectorWorks Architect teaches users how to create a residential addition with the new create wall, window, and door tools found in version 12. Users will learn many of VectorWorks Architect’s intelligent annotation tools. VectorWorks Landmark teaches the important techniques used in 2D and 3D landscape design. Users will learn to lay out the basic geometry of a site plan using the program’s 2D drafting tools, as well as the new Place Plant tool and improved site modeling commands in version 12. VectorWorks Spotlight teaches users the typical workflow associated with scenic and stage lighting design. The tutorials guide users through drawing a basic file structure with layers and classes and include the essential layout elements of both house and stage, including seating, masking, lighting instruments and accessories. Finally, RenderWorks demonstrates lighting, texturing, and rendering tools and techniques to enhance 3D designs, including those new to version 12: radiosity, new physical lighting attributes, new area and line lights, and volumetric lighting.
