BIM for the Smart-sized Firm

Presented by David Dengler, Assoc. AIA, Regional Account Manager at Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc.

Design with Building Information Modeling (BIM) in mind. Discover how small and medium-sized firms can take advantage of BIM. In this presentation, you'll learn how to transition from a typical 2D CAD workflow to a data-rich, model-based workflow. The speaker will also provide tips on how to collaborate with your design partners and dispel some of the common rumors associated with achieving successful BIM workflows.

Learning Objectives:
Define BIM and identify what tools are available for a BIM workflow
Discuss transitioning from a 2D CAD workflow to a 3D BIM environment
Find answers to common questions such as cost, the learning curve, and the possible loss of hand-drawn appeal
Optimize their model for a collaborative approach to design using an open-standard, vendor-neutral file format
